2013-Venture Capital Funding Breaks Records

VC investingIn 2013, Venture Capital Funding of the Software Industry broke records with 11 billion dollars, the highest investment in the software sector since the Dot Com bubble burst in 2000 and a 27% increase from 2012. According to MoneyTree’s annual report, the software sector captured 37% of total venture capital for the year, which is the highest percentage recorded since MoneyTree’s inception in 1995. Software investment is up 27% from 2012. The report found that venture capitalists invested $29.4 billion in 3,995 deals in 2013, an increase of 7 percent in dollars and 4 percent increase in deals over 2012. Internet-specific companies also soared last year, raising $7.1 billion, which is the biggest amount since 2001.
