linux (1)Linux began with the commencement of a personal project by Finnish student Linus Torvalds to create a new open source operating system called kernel. Since then the Linux kernel has been marked by constant growth. After its release enthusiasts started developing and improving it. In 1992 Linux became open source software. Linux also incorporated some elements of the GNU operating system and is used today in devices, from smartphones to super computers.
