1987-Hypercard

hypercardWilliam Atkinson designs Hypercard, an application program and programming tool for Apple Macintosh and Apple IIGS, it is among the first successful hypermedia systems before the world wide web. In HyperCard programmers built ‘stacks’ of information with the concept of hypertext links between stacks of pages. As a stack author programmers employed various tools to create his own stacks, linked together. Hypercard was included for free with all new Macs sold at the time up until 1992. Hypercard was very influential in the creation of the internet protocol Javascript and HTTP.
