1946-ENIAC

ENIVACElectronic Numerical Integrator and Computer is the first electronic general purpose computer. It was Turing complete, digital and could solve large numerical problems through reprogramming. ENIAC is designed to calculate artillery firing tables for the United States Army’s Ballistic Research Laboratory. When it is announced in 1946 it is dubbed as the ‘Giant Brain’ by the press. It had a speed of one thousand times faster than electro-mechanical machines, this computational power, coupled with general purpose, excites scientists.
