1822-Difference Engine

DifferenceEngine_450pxls_011An idea that was first described in a book published in 1786 that was written by J.H. Müller and Charles Babbage, proposed the use of machines in computation of differential equations in a paper published in 1822. Although never to be fully realized due to the complexity of the mechanical components, this was the first example of automated computation.
